Northvolt, Stockholm, Sweden, has announced that the first process equipment for Northvolt Ett battery gigafactory arrived at the port of Skellefteå in northern Sweden. “Of course this is just the beginning – thousands of tons of machinery will arrive through the port as we establish Europe’s first homegrown gigafactory”, the company says.
The European-built equipment delivered today consists of vessels and tanks for installation into the upstream portion of Northvolt Ett, where active material is produced; these are large units – three over 20m long, with two weighing close to 30 tons and a third one weighing in at 44 tons. The equipment will soon be on-site at Northvolt Ett, just 10km from port, for installation.
