KORE Power narrows search for U.S. lithium-ion production facility location to three States

KORE Power, Inc., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, the nation’s leading U.S.-based developer of battery cell technology for the energy storage and clean energy industry, has narrowed down the search for its U.S. lithium-ion production facility location to three states: Arizona, Florida and Texas.

Over the past year, KORE’s executive team has visited a number of sites in various states and has found the renewable energy and business markets in these final contenders to offer the most opportunity for growth. Other factors for selecting these states include:

  • Proximity to continental transportation arterials and international deep-water ports
  • World-leading clean energy utilities
  • Friendly business environment as far as taxes and regulation are concerned
  • Established complimentary industries such as e-mobility, solar and semiconductor

Another important consideration for these states is having an established workforce with potential to grow.KORE plans to employ up to 3,000 full-time personnel at the facility during full capacity, ultimately creating opportunities for 15,000 jobs indirectly.

“It’s been an exhaustive search and will ultimately be a tough decision,” said Lindsay Gorrill, KORE Power CEO. “Arizona, Florida and Texas all hold great opportunities for us. We are eager to move forward with selecting a key partner in supporting the Department of Energy’s goal to shift away from reliance on foreign lithium-ion batteries while creating manufacturing jobs and infrastructure in the United States.”

The one-million square-foot manufacturing facility will support up to 12 GWh of battery cell production and operate with net-zero carbon emissions through strategic partnerships and solar + storage co-generation.
