EUROBAT joins Global Battery Alliance

EUROBAT, the association of European automotive and industrial battery manufacturers, has announced the joining of the Global Battery Alliance (GBA).

GBA is a public-private collaboration platform founded in 2017 at the World Economic Forum to help establish a sustainable battery value chain by 2030. It brings together leading international organisations, NGOs, industry actors, academics and multiple governments to align collectively in a pre-competitive approach, to drive systemic change along the entire value chain. It provides the +100 members with a collaborative platform to pool their expertise to achieve the shared goals of circularity, environmental protection and sustainable development.

“The GBA is pleased to welcome EUROBAT to its growing membership base. Collaborative efforts are essential to realizing our vision of a sustainable and responsible battery value chain and we look forward to working together.“ says the GBA Secretariat.

EUROBAT Executive-Director, Rene Schroeder, commented: “We are very excited becoming a GBA member. The multi-stakeholder governance structure, with organisations from the whole battery supply chain, as well as academics, NGO’s and governmental bodies, makes it a very appealing model, which we are happy to be a part of. And the members’ shared goals of circularity, environmental protection and sustainable development, go indeed hand in hand with EUROBAT’s mission and vision. With the new Batteries Regulation, the future EU policy framework for batteries, it becomes even more important to have the voice of the EU battery industry heard at this important and global platform, while actively contributing towards the higher goal”.
