Daimler Truck has announced the launch of the Rizon brand, which will focus on manufacturing class 4-5 (medium-duty) battery electric trucks in the United States.
The world’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer plans to showcase its Rizon vehicles at the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo, taking place from May 1-4, 2023, in Anaheim, California. Velocity Vehicle Group will be the exclusive distributor of Daimler Truck’s Rizon lineup. Velocity and its approved dealers will provide comprehensive sales and service network to Rizon customers.
Daimler Truck intends to initially debut three battery electric commercial trucks: the 18L, e16L, and the e6M. The class 4-5 trucks might weigh between 15,995 lbs up to 17,995 lbs. “L” and “M” designations in the trucks’ names correspond to the size of their battery packs.
Each Rizon Daimler truck will be powered by two or three 41 kWh battery packs. The “M” Rizon trucks are expected to be equipped with an 82 kWh battery pack, while “L” models will be outfitted with a 124 kWh pack. Rizon electric trucks equipped with the “L” battery pack are projected to have a range of 110-169 miles, while those with the “M” battery pack should cover 75 to 110 miles on a single charge. However, Daimler Truck acknowledges that the range may vary based on environmental factors and other conditions.
